Your adventure begins early at Hotel Las Torres, with an exciting ascent up the slopes of Mount Almirante Nieto to the impressive Ascencio Valley. As you hike through ancient ñirre (Nothofagus antarctica) and lenga (Nothofagus pumilio) forests along the meandering Ascencio River, you will be captivated by the breathtaking views of the iconic Torres del Paine. The trail, dotted with glacial terraces and crystal-clear streams, tells the story of the mighty glaciers that shaped this amazing landscape. After about 45 minutes of hiking, you will arrive at Los Vientos Pass, a spectacular lookout that offers panoramic views of Amarga Lagoon, Lake Nordenskjöld and all the natural wonders that line the horizon. A short descent will take you to the cozy Chileno Mountain Hostel, the perfect place to recharge your batteries before the last leg. The last stretch is an exciting climb up a glacial moraine, from 500 to 890 meters. The trail to the Los Cuernos Sector is an impressive journey from the foothills of Mount Almirante Nieto to the northern shore of Lake Nordenskjöld. As you walk along the lakeshore, crystal-clear streams fed by hanging glaciers cross the rocky trail to the Los Cuernos Sector. You will cross a suspension bridge over the Arriero River, stop to take in the Inge Lagoon and see rocks and land formations resembling the moon’s surface. The Los Cuernos Sector, located just below a group of jagged peaks, offers incredible and contrasting views of Lake Nordenskjöld, towering granite towers and a dense green grove of trees. You will probably see the famous rotor winds, which look like little vortices spinning in one part of the lake.

This peaceful tour through the Lenga Forest is the ideal alternative for those seeking a more relaxed adventure surrounded by the wonders of Patagonia. The day begins at Hotel Las Torres, heading toward the park’s eastern side. The trail winds through pre-Andean scrublands, where the impressive transition between Patagonian steppe and Magellanic forest creates a unique, picturesque landscape. Hikers will encounter local flora, including the striking red flower of the notro (Embothrium coccineum). In the spring and summer, it forms a carpet of yellow. As you enter the enchanting Lenga Forest, you will walk among imposing trees that can live up to 350 years and grow to 30 meters. Along the way, you may spot iconic wildlife such as foxes, pumas and the magnificent Magellanic woodpecker. In the spring, the trail takes you through the foothills of Mount Cerro Paine, past gentle streams and into a valley of daisies, adding some seasonal charm to the adventure. The hike ends on the banks of the Paine River, where turquoise waters create a fascinating contrast with the surrounding forest and open pampa. The route also offers impressive views of Azul Lagoon, Mount Cerro Guido and the rugged Sierra Baguales Mountain Range to the east of the massif. 9.6 Km (6 miles) hike. This excursion to Base Torres Viewpoint combines horseback riding and hiking to offer an exciting adventure reminiscent of the Patagonian cowboys’ adventures of yesteryear. It is perfect for intermediate riders looking for a challenging, unforgettable experience. The day begins at the stable, where participants meet their horses and receive instructions regarding the precautions and safeguards for the day. The adventure begins with a scenic ride through the Ascencio Valley, where riders enter impressive Patagonian landscapes. After crossing Los Vientos Pass, you will arrive at the Chileno Mountain Hostel, where the group will leave their horses and begin the excursion on foot, crossing rivers and rocky terrain as they ascend to the lookout. The final stretch, climbing to 890 meters, rewards participants with a breathtaking view of the Torres del Paine—an image that captures the essence of this iconic national park. After enjoying the unforgettable scenery, the return trip retraces the route to the Chileno Mountain Hostel, where riders remount their horses for the return trip to the stable. Throughout the tour, riders can let their horses instinctively follow the group, allowing time to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings and marvel at the wild beauty of Patagonia. This famous lake at the foot of the Paine Massif owes its name to Otto Nordenskjöld (1869-1928), a Swedish-Finnish explorer who conducted research in much of Antarctica, Greenland, Chile and Peru in the early twentieth century. This excursion starts at Hotel Las Torres and follows the W Circuit trail, showing off the beautiful north shore of the lake and Mount Almirante Nieto. The trekking and horseback routes are different, but the scenery and terrain are very similar. The equestrian version includes several stream and river crossings, an opportunity to meet Patagonian cowboys and, most importantly, a unique, authentic experience.

The route’s quick pace and mix of ascents, descents and technical sections are challenging even for experienced riders. The day begins with an early morning trip to Verde Lagoon in the southeastern part of the park, about 62 km from the hotel. The hiking trail starts near the Estancia Lazo Ranch, an area scarred by the 2011 fire, and meanders along the shores of the lagoon, passing through beautiful lenga (Nothofagus pumilio) and ñirre (Nothofagus antarctica) forests and opening up to pre-Andean scrublands. Along the way, you will find unique flora, including mata barrosa (Mulinum spinosum) and calafate (Berberis microphylla), all framed by the impressive backdrop of the Paine Massif. A lunch break near Honda Lagoon offers an opportunity to enjoy the tranquil surroundings, weather permitting. The journey continues to the Toro Lookout, where panoramic views of the park unfold before you. An exciting descent wraps up the hike and an unforgettable day immersed in nature.

This guest-favorite tour is perfect for exploring the park’s impressive geography, diverse flora and fauna, and rich history in a single day. The adventure begins early as you head west along the park’s main road, making scenic stops. Capture views of the Torres del Paine in the morning sunlight, visit the roaring Salto Grande Waterfall that connects Lake Nordenskjöld and Lake Pehoé, and enjoy panoramic scenic views at locations like Black Bridge, Nordenskjöld and Sarmiento lookouts and Lake Pehoé. Continuing to Grey Valley, the westernmost point of the park accessible by vehicle, you will marvel at the Magellanic forest and the impressive views of the Grey Glacier. An optional catamaran ride on Grey Lake is available to give you a close-up view of the glacier. Those who opt not to do so can take a short hike to the peninsula to enjoy panoramic views of the lake and its striking icebergs. On the way back to Hotel Las Torres, you will make additional stops to contemplate the scenery and take pictures as the sun sets over Patagonia.
